Personal Statement
I have written five published books so far. The most recent of which is 'Love Me Fierce in Danger: The Life of James Ellroy' (Bloomsbury: 2023). This was the first authorised and full-length biography of the American crime novelist. It was shortlisted for the Edgar and HRF Keating Award for best Biography and was named by 'The Daily Telegraph' as one of the Fifty Best Books of the Year.

Research Overview
My primary research interest is the life and work of James Ellroy. All but one of my books has been about Ellroy, and I'm currently guest-editing (with Nathan Ashman at UEA) a special issue of Clues: A Journal of Detection dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of Ellroy's novel 'American Tabloid'.
