ABOUT
Personal Statement
I am a reader in behavioural neuroscience at the Department of Psychological Sciences, Institute of Psychology, Health, and Society. My expertise is in electrophysiology and brain imaging of pain, decision making and olfaction. My research in the area of pain focuses on neural mechanisms of experimental and clinical pain. In experimental pain studies, my main interest is in understanding how the conscious experience of pain is generated in the brain. Our recent clinical studies and projects investigate the neural mechanisms participating in pain experience in fibromyalgia syndrome patients, and on neural predictors of therapeutic success of spinal cord stimulation.
