Personal Statement
Tom Hasell is a graduate of the University of Nottingham, where stayed to complete a PhD under the supervision of Prof Steve Howdle (Chemistry) and Prof Paul Brown (Engineering). During his PhD he collaborated closely with Profs Martyn Poliakof and Ed Lester in Nottingham, as well as placements abroad in America (Dr Eric Beckman, University of Pittsburg) and Japan (Dr Satoshi Yoda, National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology). He then joined Andy Cooper’s group at the University of Liverpool in 2008, initially as a postdoctoral researcher and later as a research coordinator. In 2015 he was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship. He has worked in a wide range of areas across materials science, including chemical synthesis, supercritical processing, polymer science, nanocomposites, and porous materials.
