Personal Statement
Dr Danai Christopoulou is a Senior Lecturer in International Business and Strategy at the University of Liverpool Management School. She completed her PhD at the University of Bradford School of Management and holds an MPharm (Hons) in Pharmacy, an MSc in Marketing and Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Research Methods, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Developing Academic Practice. She is a Fellow of Advance HE.

Danai's current research focuses on the pedagogical and organisational implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in higher education. Her work examines how GenAI is transforming educators' professional identity, student learning, graduate employability, critical thinking, and innovative pedagogical practice. She is particularly interested in developing evidence-based approaches that enable educators to harness AI to enhance learning while preserving human judgement, creativity and academic integrity. Alongside this work, she has published in International Business, where her research had explored institutional theory, foreign direct investment, institutional change, knowledge spillovers, and intellectual property rights.

Her teaching philosophy centres on creating engaging, inclusive and intellectually challenging learning environments that encourage students to become critical thinkers, confident decision-makers and globally minded graduates. She designs authentic learning experiences that connect theory with contemporary business practice through case-based learning, simulations, debates, collaborative activities and technology-enhanced teaching, increasingly integrating Generative AI as a learning partner. Danai places student learning and development at the heart of her practice, continually refining her teaching through evidence-informed and innovative approaches that foster active participation, learner autonomy and reflective practice, with the aim of equipping students with both disciplinary knowledge and the professional capabilities needed to succeed in an increasingly complex global environment.
