Personal Statement
Meixu (May) Chen is a Lecturer in Geographic Data Science at the Department of Geography and Planning of the University of Liverpool and a member of the Geographic Data Science Lab (GDSL).

May's research generally centres on how geographic data science methodologies can be integrated with new forms of data to represent and understand population behaviours, attitudes, characteristics and dynamics in neighbourhoods to assist in urban policymaking. More specifically, She is particularly interested in sustainable cities, social sensing, deprivation and vulnerability, and socio-spatial inequality.

Before becoming a lecturer, May completed her PhD in 2021 at the University of Liverpool, followed by a Research Fellow in Population Geography at the Department of Geography at University College London, and a Postdoctoral Data Scientist at Consumer Data Research Centre at the Department of Geography and Planning of the University of Liverpool.
