ABOUT
Personal Statement
Tom grew up in North Wales, and qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2005. For 9 years he
worked in farm and equine practice in Lancashire, then the Scottish Borders. Following this, he
spent time working as a small animal vet in Wales and Scotland, where he gained a certificate in
veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia. In 2017 he completed an internship in anaesthesia at the
University of Liverpool, followed by a residency, and then a lectureship, in anaesthesia and analgesia
at the University of Edinburgh. After a brief stint working on the Orkney Islands, he returned to
Liverpool as a lecturer in equine anaesthesia.
