ABOUT

Personal Statement
Dr. Xue Zhang, a senior lecturer in the University of Liverpool, earned his PhD in geotechnical engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2014. Following this, he served as a Research Associate at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Geotechnical Science and Engineering (Newcastle, Australia). Dr. Zhang then expanded his expertise as a Marie Curie fellow at the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (Barcelona, Spain). Currently a faculty member at the University of Liverpool, UK, his research focuses on computational geomechanics, specialising in geohazard modelling and geostructure design.

Research Overview
Dr. Xue Zhang specialises in computational geomechanics, developing and utilising advanced computer simulations to address complex geotechnical and geological engineering challenges. His research concentrates on areas such as onshore and offshore geohazards, soil-structure interaction, and geo-foundation design, aiming to deliver optimal solutions that enhance engineering decision-making.
