ABOUT

Personal Statement
Professional Lead for Diagnostic Radiography, and Senior Lecturer. I have worked full-time at the University since 2018.
I graduated in Diagnostic Radiography from Bangor University in 1996 with first class honours, and had a 22 year clinical career working in NHS Trusts in the North West of England, specialising in oncology (cancer) imaging, especially CT and MRI scanning, and clinical education.
I trained as a Learning Representative for the Society of Radiographers, supporting both Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiographers with Continuing Professional Development.
I later worked as an NHS Trust Practice Education Facilitator, managing placements for multi-professional healthcare students, and as an honorary lecturer, teaching communication skills in cancer care.
Following this, I held several clinical management roles in the NHS – Superintendent Radiographer, Principal Radiographer, and Lead Allied Health Professional for Diagnostics (professional leadership of Radiology, Pathology, and Cardiorespiratory services).
My postgraduate qualifications include an MSc (2000), with a study on radiation dosimetry in CT, and two further Post Graduate Certificates, in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice (2011), and in Healthcare Leadership (2016). I have been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), since 2011.
In 2015, I was awarded the Society of Radiographers North West Radiographer of the Year, for contributions to clinical education and leadership.
Currently, alongside my role at the university, I am undertaking part-time doctoral research at the University of Chester, related to person-centredness in cancer imaging.

Research Overview
I have research interests in the areas of radiation dose optimisation, and student / service user experience.
My doctoral study is exploring person-centred care in cancer imaging.
