Personal Statement
Joanne Lyubovnikova is a Professor in Organisational Behaviour, Postgraduate Teaching Lead, and Director of Studies for the MSc Occupational and Organisational Psychology and the MSc in Business Psychology and Strategic People Management at the University of Liverpool Management School.

Joanne holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Social Psychology from Loughborough University (2005), an MSc in Work Psychology and Business from Aston Business School (2007), and a PhD in Management from Aston Business School (2011). Her research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Management Reviews, and the Journal of Product Innovation Management. She has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology since 2022.

Alongside her academic work, Joanne is a Registered Occupational Psychologist (BPS; HCPC) and partners with organisations across the public and private sectors to deliver executive education and evaluate evidence-based strategies that strengthen team effectiveness, foster responsible leadership, and drive innovation. Her work aims to bridge research and practice, contributing to the advancement of occupational and organisational psychology both in the classroom and in real-world settings.

Research Overview
Joanne’s research focuses on enhancing team effectiveness, moral-based leadership, and innovation within organisational settings, with a particular emphasis on healthcare environments. Her work examines how leadership styles—such as authentic and servant leadership—influence team dynamics and performance. Notably, she has explored the distinction between "real teams" and "co-acting groups" in healthcare, demonstrating that well-structured teams with shared goals and interdependence are linked to improved outcomes, including lower staff turnover and reduced patient mortality.

Through her research, Joanne seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice, with the aim of providing evidence-based insights to improve team functioning and leadership effectiveness in complex organisational contexts.
