Personal Statement
I am a Senior IT & AV Technician and media facility lead at the University of Liverpool, specialising in audio engineering, digital media production, studio design, and technology-enhanced learning. My role sits at the intersection of teaching, research, and public engagement, where I work closely with academics, researchers, professional services colleagues, and students to bring ideas to life through technology and media.

Over the years, I have developed and managed specialist media facilities, supported the creation of award-winning digital content, and helped researchers communicate their work to audiences both within and beyond academia. I am particularly passionate about using podcasting, video production, and digital storytelling to increase the reach and impact of research and education.

A significant part of my work focuses on empowering others. Whether through curriculum support, technical training, or collaborative media production, I enjoy helping people develop the skills and confidence to create engaging digital content.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a recipient of a University of Liverpool Learning and Teaching Fellowship 2022/23 and 2025/26, recognising my contribution to redefining technical professional practice within higher education. My work has also been recognised through national awards, including being shortlisted for Outstanding Technician of the Year 2023 at the Times Higher Education Awards and receiving Highly Commended recognition at the Papin Prizes for Excellence in Technical Teaching 2023 and 2025. I am a registered Practitioner in Creative industries and Technologies (RPCIT)

Outside of my day-to-day role, I am an enthusiastic podcast producer and media creator who believes that great stories, supported by the right technology, have the power to inform, inspire, and connect people. I am a trained Apple Certified technician in iOS and MacOs, and also a Adobe Certified Professional in Digital video using Premier Pro.The sound of change: How Podcasting and audio production redefined my role in higher education
