Personal Statement
Having graduated (Bachelor of Architecture) from the Liverpool School of Architecture in 1998, Mushtaq embarked on a professional career working in various practices across the north west of England. He became a Chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1999.

He has always taken a keen interest in architectural education and first returned to the University as a part time teaching assistant in 2001 (on the BA course).

Mushtaq was the founding director of the award winning Studio Three Architects, a practice that still operates from a base within the RopeWalks area of Liverpool. Responsible for a series of playful and thought-provoking schemes (such as the Chavasse Park Pavilion and Rossall Point Tower), Mushtaq has combined an active role in live practice with an increasing involvement in the teaching of both BA and MArch courses within the School.

2012 saw his appointment as a lecturer, focussing on teaching with the third year of BA (Architecture) and the Master of Architecture course (fourth and fifth year). Aside from studio teaching, he is also pursuing areas of research that include: construction procurement in the UK and the use of live project offices within a teaching environment.

A further project this academic year will be the co-ordination and editing of the new School of Architecture Yearbook.
