ABOUT

Personal Statement
Dr Jiangtao Du is a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Architectural Science and Technology at the School of Architecture, University of Liverpool. He is a chartered building engineer (CIBSE) with expertise in building performance simulation, lighting design, and low-carbon design, as well as a professional member of the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) in the UK. He holds a BEng and MEng in Architectural/Civil Engineering from Ocean University of China and Tianjin University in China, and a PhD in Environmental Design from the University of Sheffield in UK. Since 2006, he has taught at several institutions, including the University of Sheffield (2006–2010), Lund University in Sweden (2011–2013), the University of Bath (2014–2016), and Liverpool John Moores University (2016–2019). Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a professional lighting engineer and designer and urban planner in Beijing, China (2002–2006).

Two primary research fields:
1. Healthy Built Environment: a) housing environmental quality and health; b) lighting and wellbeing; c) green infrastructure & mental health; d) public spaces and student mental health; e) perceived environmental quality and wellbeing in workspaces; f) physical environment and elderly wellbeing.
2. Sustainable Built Environment: building performance modelling, low-carbon technologies, daylighting/solar energy, and light pollution and environmental conservation.
