Personal Statement
I am a Data Scientist with the Computational Biology Facility (CBF), part of the University's shared research facilities (LIV-SRF). I am primarily involved in supporting technical analysis of research projects for internal and external collaborators.

Prior to this position I spent a year working as a Bioinformatician at the Centre for Genomic Research (CGR), another shared research facility within the university. This role focussed on the up-stream processing and downstream analysis of high-throughput sequencing datasets. Before this, I completed my doctoral research focusing on developing methods to forecast and perform predictive analysis on the human microbiome using machine learning and applied mathematics. Over the course of this project I worked in collaboration with research partners at Unilever.

In preparation for the path I am currently on, my academic journey began studying a combined mathematics and biological sciences BSc here at Liverpool. At this time I realised the importance of computational approaches in biology and subsequently gained an MSc in computer science to complement my career in computational biology.
