Personal Statement
Dr Serena Saligari is a Social Anthropologist working at the intersection of domestic energy practices, air pollution, and health in the Global South, specifically in Kenya. Her work focuses on the social, cultural and political-economic implications of accessing domestic energy for cooking, lighting, and heating houses and understanding how the health, social and environmental concerns associated with polluting fuels' consumption can be addressed.
She works to promote clean energy transitions via interventions that are responsive and attuned to people's needs. Serena has extensive experience of Community Engagement and Involvement strategies, participant observation, ethnographic methods and qualitative data collection and analysis.
