ABOUT

Personal Statement
I am a research associate working on the VEuPathDB project. I obtained an MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of Leeds and have over 25 years experience in genomics and bioinformatics. I started my career at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, followed by research positions at a number of UK universities. My most recent position was at the University of Bristol working in the cereal genomics group, where I was employed as a Bioinformatician and curated a SNP database for wheat called CerealsDB. I have also held positions at the University of Exeter and the University of Bath where I worked in molecular entomology groups on Heliconius butterflies, Manduca sexta (Tobacco Hornworm moth) and the insect pathogen Photorhabdus. Prior to this, I worked at the University of Oxford and the University of Sussex where my research focussed on molecular microbiology and Multi locus Sequence typing (MLST) of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
