Personal Statement
Claudia Gutiérrez-Arellano joined ISMIB as Scientific Data and Insights Officer within the Biologics Regional Innovation and Technology Ecosystem (BRITE) programme. Working within the Immunocompatibility Group led by Professor Neill Liptrott, she will contribute to data analysis and scientific outputs that support biologics innovation and manufacturing across the Liverpool City Region. Before joining ISMIB, Claudia was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour, where she applied quantitative and spatial analytical methods to environmental and conservation research.

Claudia holds a bachelor's degree in Biology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a Master’s in Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of Southampton a PhD in Geography from King’s College London and Claudia has experience spanning research, consultancy and policy-focused projects. Her interests include quantitative analysis, scientific communication and translating complex scientific information into evidence-based insights.

‘Robust conservation for a dynamic world’, supporting Dr Jenny Hodgson ( UKRI Future Leaders Fellow) with ecological modelling, spatial and quantitative analyses to assess the effect of land use change on understudied species

‘Informing nature recovery in England by analysing “bottlenecks” in broad habitats’ collaboration with Natural England to identify areas where habitat connectivity is restricted at the national scale using the decision support tool Condatis

‘Connections for insect pollinators under global change’, collaboration with Buglife (the Invertebrate Conservation Trust) to develop an indicator of connectivity before and after habitat regeneration projects using Condatis.
