ABOUT

Personal Statement
Dr. Firdaus Parveen is a researcher specialising in flow chemistry, catalysis, and sustainable chemical processes. She currently serves as the Liverpool Digital Flow Centre Manager and Research Coordinator in the Slater Group at the University of Liverpool. Her work centres on continuous flow synthesis, where she develops innovative strategies for porphyrin production using telescoped processes and inline analytical techniques. She is particularly interested in integrating advanced reactor design, real-time monitoring, and digital optimisation to enable more efficient, scalable, and sustainable chemical manufacturing.

In addition to her expertise in flow systems, Dr. Parveen is increasingly focused on the development of biomass-derived chemicals as part of the transition toward defossilisation. Her research explores how renewable feedstocks can be converted into valuable chemicals using continuous processing, helping to reduce reliance on fossil resources and lower the environmental impact of chemical production.

She completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, following a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the same institution. Her academic career includes international research and teaching roles, with postdoctoral positions at Imperial College London and the University of Liverpool, as well as serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Delhi. She was also awarded the Shastri Indo-Canadian Research Award, through which she conducted research at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

Dr. Parveen brings extensive hands-on experience in continuous flow systems, catalysis, and reaction engineering, and has made significant contributions to green and sustainable chemistry through her research and publications. She is also deeply committed to mentoring and supporting the next generation of scientists.
