Personal Statement
I graduated from the University of Liverpool as a Clinical Psychologist in 2011 and have since worked in the NHS and private practice. My areas of interest and expertise are in adult mental health and physical health psychology working across a range of inpatient and community services and across acute, secondary and tertiary care centres. Clinically a focus is on the mind - body interconnect and psychological adjustment and areas of specialism include chronic pain and Gastroenterology. I currently work in a chronic pain service as a Principal Clinical Psychologist and at the University of Liverpool as a Senior University Clinical tutor and I am the academic lead for year one trainee's.
Research Overview
I am currently supervising four Trainee Clinical Psychologists on thesis topics in physical health and acute inpatient mental health. I have completed the Epigeum training for becoming a researcher. My own thesis doctoral project was exploring the impacts of trauma on male forensic inpatients and prior to training I worked as a research assistant for 4 years, firstly in public health at Liverpool John Moore's University focussing on drug and alcohol use and then in mental health with a focus on early intervention for psychosis.
