Personal Statement
My name is David Edwards and I have just started as a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the School of Health Sciences.

I graduated in 2003 and my clinical career has been in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, split between critical care and acute respiratory physiotherapy and working in an integrated COPD team. I completed my MClinRes in 2014 and since 2015 I have been working full-time as a lecturer in physiotherapy since 2015 but I still work clinically for on-call and weekend respiratory care.

My key clinical interests are looking at pulmonary rehabilitation and symptom management – both from a quantitative and qualitative perspective. I am also very interested in pedagogical research around the student experience and specifically how students are best prepared for clinical placements. I am also keen on simulation (both high and low fidelity) and this is an area I would like to research within my role.

Outside of work, I play bass in two local bands and do some part-time work as a music journalist. I can always be found down the front at gigs and festivals! I live in Chorlton, Manchester with my wife (who is an stroke specialist occupational therapist, so all therapy bases covered in our household) and two extremely silly Devon Rex cats! I am also a long supporting/suffering Newcastle United fan but I tend to keep quiet on this...
