ABOUT

Personal Statement
Dr Amir Raki is a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Liverpool Management School and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His research examines how services, organisations and technologies can respond more effectively and ethically to vulnerability and contribute to individual and societal wellbeing.
His work is positioned primarily within transformative service research and focuses on service design, consumer vulnerability, strengths-based approaches, social impact and the role of nonprofit and public-service organisations. Across this research, he is particularly interested in how service systems can move beyond addressing immediate needs to create enabling environments that recognise people’s strengths, support agency and improve longer-term wellbeing.
Amir’s research has been published in journals including the European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, AMS Review, Annals of Tourism Research and Journal of Social Impact in Business Research. His current projects examine vulnerability-informed service design, and ethical resource allocation in nonprofit and public-service organisations.
A central feature of Amir’s work is collaboration with charities and nonprofit organisations. He works with external partners to co-produce research, develop practical frameworks and translate academic findings into practitioner resources, workshops and tools. His wider professional engagement includes trustee and advisory work with organisations supporting refugees, migrants and communities affected by conflict and exclusion.
He is also Grants and Scholarships Officer for ServCollab, an international research community committed to serving humanity through service research and collaboration.
Before joining Liverpool, Amir completed his PhD in Business and Management at Alliance Manchester Business School, where he held an AMBS Doctoral Scholarship.
