Personal Statement
Dr Vaios Dermitzakis is a Lecturer in Actuarial Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and member of the Institute for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics. He holds a PhD in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Piraeus (Greece), a MSc degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Piraeus (Greece) and a BSc degree from the University of Athens (Greece).

Following his PhD he has joined the banking sector as Senior Manager, whilst he was regularly teaching in the academia. He managed successful many financial projects and he is an expert in the financial performance management, budgeting, financial forecasting and implementation of financial systems. His publications are mainly in the area of renewal equations with actuarial ruin-based applications.
