Personal Statement
Dr James Nixon graduated with an MB BCh BAO from Queen's University of Belfast in July 2017 and has worked in a number of specialties including Emergency Medicine, Haematology, Palliative Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He currently works as a Specialty Doctor in Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust alongside his university roles. He has been awarded a Senior Fellowship of AdvanceHE and completed a MSc in Clinical Education at Queen's University of Belfast achieving a Pass with Distinction.

James joined the University of Liverpool in February 2023 as a Lecturer within the School of Medicine. He is lead for Year 3 Communication for Clinical Practice and Theme Lead for The Clinical Team. Alongside these leadership roles, James teaches multiple aspects of the undergraduate programme and postgraduate programmes within the School of Medicine. He has a range of research interests including clinical communication, interprofessional learning, stories in healthcare, and simulation. James has previously presented his work at the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM), Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH), Trainees in the Association for the Study of Medical Education (TASME), and Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) conferences.
