ABOUT
Personal Statement
I am a multisensory perception scientist with a background in experimental psychology.
After my DPhil (Oxon), I worked as a research scientist for the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics (Tuebingen, DE) and the Center for Excellence in Cognitive Interaction Technologies (Uni-Bielefeld, DE). In 2016 I joined Facebook Reality Labs (now Meta Reality Labs; Redmond, WA) as a PI in perception science, where I investigated haptics, multisensory integration, and spatial audio to develop next-generation technologies for virtual and augmented reality. In March 2023, I joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Liverpool as a Senior Lecturer.
I am always happy to consider applications from visiting students and scholars interested in the computational principles of sensory information processing and their clinical and technological applications. If you are interested, please look at my research interests and publications, and email me your CV.
Research Overview
My area of expertise is multisensory integration and sensory information processing (vision, audition and touch), which I investigate by combining psychophysics, computational modelling and neurophysiological techniques. My work blends blue-sky research with applied perception science, with a special focus on clinical applications (e.g., sensory substitution) and novel interactive technologies (e.g., virtual and augmented reality).
