Personal Statement
Heeseo Rain Kwon is a Lecturer (Asst. Prof) in Geographic Data Science at the University of Liverpool and a Visiting Lecturer at the UCL Bartlett School of Planning. Her doctoral research at the University of Cambridge focused on using behavioural theories, agent-based modelling (ABM) and GIS-based spatial analysis for simulating urban change. Rain is currently leading two key projects. One is a bilateral R&D project “Korea-UK Digital Twin Approaches for Transport Analysis (KUDATA)” funded by Innovate UK where Rain leads the co-development and testing of equity-focused evaluation metrics for “LLM-assisted bus network planning” in collaboration with Podaris, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Korean partners including Pusan National University and Busan Metropolitan City. Another is an NIHR-funded project OPTIMA that makes a systems science approach to evaluate 20-minute neighbourhood policy in Scotland focusing on health inequality, where Rain leads the work package on agent-based modelling using synthetic population.
