Personal Statement
Connor Harpur is an occupational therapist and lecturer with more than 12 years’ experience across the NHS, higher education and independent practice. His clinical background spans acute care, neurological rehabilitation and complex polytrauma, alongside leadership roles in service development, workforce planning and quality improvement. He has also worked nationally as a Programme Manager with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, contributing to workforce reform initiatives delivered in partnership with NHS England.

Alongside his academic role, Connor is the founder of ProActive Therapy, an independent occupational therapy service specialising in functional rehabilitation. He is passionate about translating real world clinical experience into engaging and innovative teaching that prepares students for contemporary practice.

Outside work, Connor is heavily involved in sport and currently manages the University of Liverpool Men’s Gaelic Football team, winners of the 2026 BUCS GAA British Championship. He also enjoys travelling and has recently explored Southeast Asia and Australia, alongside maintaining a keen interest in health, fitness and technology.

Research Overview
Connor’s research interests focus on occupational therapy in critical care, neurological rehabilitation and acquired brain injury. He is particularly interested in vocational rehabilitation, concussion and return to sport, and the use of artificial intelligence and simulation within occupational therapy education and practice.

His work is informed by his clinical experience across complex neurorehabilitation settings, with an emphasis on translating evidence into meaningful improvements in practice, education and service delivery.
