Personal Statement
My research focuses on maritime renewable energy, environmental fluid mechanics, and hydraulic engineering. I develop and apply numerical, experimental, and theoretical approaches to improve the understanding and performance of wave energy converters, tidal turbines, and hydraulic structures.

I obtained my BSc, MSc, and PhD in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey, specialising in hydraulics and fluid mechanics. Following my BSc, I worked in industry on hydropower and hydraulic engineering projects before pursuing an academic career in Turkey, Cyprus, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Liverpool, I held research positions at Delft University of Technology and Deltares in the Netherlands, where I worked on hydraulic structures, flood modelling, and river morphodynamics.

I have contributed to research projects funded by UKRI, Rijkswaterstaat, and TUBITAK, with total research funding involvement exceeding £1.7 million.
