ABOUT

Personal Statement
Dr Kayleigh Smith is a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the UKRI-funded project ‘Beyond Teamwork: The Psychology of Extreme Teams’. Her research explores the psychological, social, and organisational processes underpinning interoperability in emergency responses. On this project, Kayleigh will examine how emergency teams operate across national and organisational contexts, identifying shared and contrasting facilitators and barriers to interoperability.

Her PhD research used the Social Identity Approach and Social Identity Approach to Leadership to examine the relationships between football fans and their clubs, considering how these contribute to attendees’ experiences and feelings of safety at matches.
