Personal Statement
Dr Erin Ferguson is a Lecturer in Law specialising in UK public law and human rights. She joined the School of Law and Social Justice in September 2026 and has previously taught at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Buckingham.

Erin was awarded her PhD from the University of Strathclyde in 2020. Her thesis examined the impact of privatisation on the UK's freedom of information laws. Since then, she has continued to research the relationship between privatisation and public law, and she is currently writing a book that examines the human rights implications of privatisation in public services. She also has strong research interests in environmental law and has published recently on access to environmental information, climate change litigation, environmental constitutionalism, and the development of a right to a healthy environment in Scotland.

In AY 2026-26, Erin teaches on the first year Public Law module and coordinates the LLM Dissertation (Research Skills) module.
