ABOUT
Personal Statement
Dr Henry Broadley is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. His research interests focus on using numerical methods to assess the stability of fluid dynamics problems and predict under what conditions the flows will transition from a well-behaved laminar state to a chaotic, turbulent one.
Research Overview
My research encompasses a broad range of fluid dynamics problems, from hypersonic to viscoelastic flows as well as the development of high-fidelity numerical schemes. I have extensive experience in stability analysis of both high Reynolds & Mach number and complex fluid flows. I also have expertise in the development and use of novel high-fidelity numerical methods for large-scale simulations of combustion and viscoelastic flows on massively parallel systems. My ultimate interests lie in determining the stability of industrially relevant flows so as to predict laminar-turbulent transition and design control mechanisms to prevent/encourage this.
