ABOUT

Personal Statement
I consider myself a Classicist with a broad background in History, specialising in late antique Latin prose. My research sits right at the intersection of (mostly Latin) literary studies and the social and cultural history of the late antique world. I am currently a postdoctoral research associate on GREEKWEST, an ERC-funded project which investigates the place of Greek in the sociolinguistic landscape of western Europe from 300 to 900 CE. My work here focuses primarily on code-switching and other bilingual phenomena in literary texts written in the Roman West during this period.
Before coming to Liverpool, I was a doctoral researcher on the DFG-funded project Reading Symmachus' Letter Collection by the Book at the University of Tübingen. My PhD thesis investigated integenerational relations in Symmachus, and in particular how these shaped the organisation and literary presentation of his authorial letter collection.
