ABOUT
Personal Statement
My research sits at the intersection of environmental politics, comparative politics, and African politics. Specifically, I research how environmental shocks affect political actors and institutions, with a particular focus on electoral behaviour, green party politics, climate-induced displacement, farmer-herder conflicts, and governance in Sub-Saharan Africa. I have published in leading journals including Environmental Politics, Democratization, Africa, and Africa Spectrum, and my work has been funded by the British Academy/Leverhulme, the Commonwealth & Routledge, Working Group in Africa Political Economy (WGAPE), and the Russell Sage Foundation. I was a Country Expert for Nigeria and Ghana on the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) project.
I completed my PhD in Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, where I received an Honourable Mention for Best Dissertation from the American Political Science Association. Before joining Liverpool, I held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the London School of Economics and Political Science, worked as a teaching associate at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, and taught at SOAS, University of London. I am committed to research-led teaching and have supervised undergraduate and graduate dissertations on African governance, environmental politics, and elections. Beyond academia, I run an educational YouTube channel with over 100,000 subscribers, providing mentorship on scholarship and grant applications.
