Personal Statement
Paul Baines is a professor in the Department of English. He joined the department in 1990 as an eighteenth-century specialist and works largely in the early modern and long eighteenth century periods. He has published eight books and over 60 articles and chapters. He is currently editing the early prose writings of Alexander Pope, with Professor Greg Lynall, for the Oxford Edition of the Writings of Alexander Pope, and continues to work on the rogue publisher Edmund Curll and on radical Liverpool writers of the Romantic period.
