Personal Statement
Barry is an experienced criminologist with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. He is skilled in Research and Higher Education Management., having worked at a senior level in major British and Chinese Universities. He has published 20 books and over a hundred articles on crime, prisons, and policing. He is currently working with a number of UK police forces, the Home Office, and MPs to reduce Violence Against Women and Girls. He is Presiding Justice in Cheshire magistrates courts, and Deputy Chair of Cheshire Crime and Policing Panel. Barry works regularly with television and print media on documentaries focusing on crime and policing. He collaborates worldwide and has provided keynote and guest lectures in the US, Australia, Europe and the UK.

Research Overview
I have published twenty research books, over 100 articles and book chapters and completed over thirty externally funded projects on VAWG, high-harm high-frequency perpetrators, comparative criminology, and longitudinal studies of offending. Funding from the UKRI and international bodies has allowed me to build a team of established academics who work on VAWG, AI/Policing, longitudinal studies of crime and imprisonment, and desistance. I have supervised twenty doctoral students, and welcome applications to work with colleagues at doctoral, and post-doctoral level in the future.
