ABOUT

Personal Statement
I studied Zoology at Liverpool John Moores before going on to do a PhD at the University of Liverpool. My PhD thesis investigated the risk of Campylobacter in dogs, in the context of the risk of infection to humans. I continued to work in microbiology and my first Postdoc investigated the use of plantain to block Salmonella translocation across the gut. I was subsequently involved in several projects investigating the virulence of several Salmonella serovars. My next project explored whether the gastric microbiota influenced gastric cancer, which also led to my involvement in a trial to treat gastric neuroendocrine tumours. In addition, I designed a study to investigate the faecal microbiota in people with Multiple Sclerosis which is ongoing.

I am now a Learning developer for KnowHow, where I predominately teach statistics. KnowHow provides workshops/webinars and online materials to support students with their studies http://libguides.liverpool.ac.uk/knowhow. Please follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/LivUniKnowHow
