ABOUT

Personal Statement
My experience combines an early career in local economic development and urban regeneration, alongside 25 years working in higher education in England and Ireland. My academic career has prioritised teaching and research that is close to practice and is concerned to enable students to make a critical impact in their organisations and communities. I have held various coordination and management roles over the years principally on MBA and MSc programmes, and currently am part of the team that runs the university's Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA)

Research Overview
My scholarship focuses on management learning and leadership development. At present I have several strands of research. Having completed a Future of Leadership study in 2019 investigating the implications for leadership development of a more digitised future, I followed up the same participants in 2020 with a study on the Lessons of Covid-19 for a Digitalised Future. I currently have a publication stream in process related to these, as well as others on the question of how managers learn to do collaborative leadership, and the use of reflexivity in professional auditor development.
