Personal Statement
I joined Liverpool University Management School in September 2013. Before that, I studied and worked at Nankai University, Zhejiang University, Newcastle University, Imperial College London and Plymouth University. I have managed several research projects funded by EPSRC, ESRC, Royal Society, British Council, Innovation Launchpad Network+, European Commission, and Chinese Research Councils. I have developed research expertise in applying data analytics, mathematical modelling, artificial intelligence, and simulation-based tools to various supply chain, logistics and transportation systems, particularly in the area of maritime transport. The goal is to advance the knowledge and assist industries to improve management considering economic, environmental and societal performance.

Dr. Ehsan Amirnazmiafshar, PDRA in Transport Logistic Analytics, is working with me on the research project "Combined passenger and goods transportation in city suburb traffic" funded by Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Dr. Reza Eshtehadi, PDRA in Digitalisation and Decarbonisation, is working with me on the research project "UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub" funded by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Research Overview
My research is in line with the UoL's Net-zero and Digital economy themes. I have been conducting the following funded research projects:
• "UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub (UK-MarRe Hub)" (2023-2027; £340,369, EPSRC, EP/Y024605/1. Total budget £7.4m).
• "Combined passenger and goods transportation in suburb traffic (ERGODIC)", (2023-2026; £278,104, ESRC, ES/Y010574/1. Total budget €1.14m).
• "Green Shipping Corridor Belfast - Liverpool", (1/2024-3/2024. £42,138, funded by Innovation Launchpad Network+).
• "Data-enabled decarbonisation at seaports", (2/2024-12/2024, £23,158, funded by combined EPSRC and ESRC Impact Acceleration Account).
• "Digitalisation for operational efficiency and GHG emission reduction at container ports" (2022-2023; £42,605, EPSRC, EP/W028492/1.).
• "Modelling and Optimization for Flexible Berth Allocation Systems at Container Ports under Uncertainty" (2018-2022; £11,100, Royal Society, IEC\NSFC\170100).
• "Emission Control and Sustainable Energy in Green Port Development" (2017-2018; £21,600, British Council, 2016-RLWK7-10122).
• "Offshore Operation & Maintenance Mutualization (2OM)” (2011-2015; €224,772, EU Interreg, Interreg-IVA-2012-4174. Total budget €1.88m).
• "Establishing new collaborations with academic and industrial communities for container fleet management" (2007-2008; £24,704, EPSRC, EP/F012918/1).
• "Integrated container fleet management in transportation service systems" (2006-2010; £209,310, EPSRC, EP/E000398/1).
My research work has led to over 80 refereed articles in journals including IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control; Automatica; Transportation Research Part B/E/D; European Journal of Operational Research; Naval Research Logistics. Moreover, I have published five monographs:
