Personal Statement
I graduated with first class honours in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow in 1990 and was awarded a PhD from University of Glasgow in 1994 for a project entitled "Experimental seizure models and new antiepileptic drugs". I subsequently undertook an extended period of post-doctoral research at the Epilepsy Unit, Western Infirmary, Glasgow, studying the basic and clinical neuropharmacology of antiepileptic agents. I moved to a new academic position at the University of Liverpool in 2007.
