ABOUT
Personal Statement
I carry out and assist with a range of geochemical analyses and their associated sample preparation methods. The main focus being the identification and quantification of minerals by X-Ray diffraction. I assist with risk assessments, lab teaching, fieldwork, and the maintenance of laboratory and field equipment.
I look after the following analytical equipment: X-Ray Diffraction, Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence, Simultaneous Thermal Analysis, various optical microscopes, portable X-Ray Fluorescence.
I have expertise additionally in the area of automated SEM-EDS analysis (i.e. Qemscan).
Research Overview
Most of my work is research focussed, from undergraduate research projects to high level professorial and industrial research projects.
I cross disciplines of geology, physical geography and some water chemistry.
Current research projects include: efficient use of existing oil and gas fields, storage of CO2 and Hydrogen in geological reservoirs, and long term geological disposal of radioactive waste.
