Personal Statement
I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1999 and spent four years in mixed practice before coming to the University of Liverpool to undertake a residency in veterinary pathology, alongside a concurrent MPhil on the pathogenesis of Feline herpesvirus. Following this, I completed a PhD looking at the effect of respiratory viral infection on the expression of host proteins in the respiratory epithelium I was appointed as Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology in 2010 and Senior Lecturer in 2016. I was awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath, by exam) in 2011.

I am subject lead for veterinary pathology on the 2nd and 3rd year of the BVSc course, and teach second and third year students and final year students on clinical rotations. I also lecture on the Bioveterinary Science course, and supervise projects for veterinary science and bioveterinary science undergraduates and MRes students.

I am a part of the Veterinary Laboratory Services diagnostic team, performing post mortem examinations on a range of species, both as diagnostic and forensic cases, and providing a surgical biopsy and immunohistology service for veterinary surgeons in the School of Veterinary Science and also in private practice.

Research Overview
I am involved in collaborative research on a range of diseases, particularly looking at pathogenesis of infectious diseases (influenza virus, herpesviruses). Part of the group at the University of Liverpool who is a partner of the Cetacean Strandings investigation Project, based at the Zoological Society of London.
