ABOUT

Personal Statement
John Williamson's interests are mainly in nineteenth and twentieth-century Central Europe. He is a self-taught Schenkerian and critical admirer of Adorno. He has appeared as a talking head on a television programme screened in France and Germany, made by the Dutch production team H&W Company, and entitled 'Von deutscher Seele - Hans Pfitzner' (a subject to which he returned at a recent conference in Bochum).

When not thinking of music, he plays it as a trombonist, occasional sackbuteer, and pianist. When not playing music, he relaxes by reading extensively, losing at chess to Fritz, Genius, HIARCS, Mephisto, and Shredder, and watching cricket at Aigburth, Old Trafford, Headingley, and Edgbaston.
