ABOUT
Personal Statement
I am a Senior Research Fellow in Health Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute of Population Health Sciences, University of Liverpool, funded by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast (ARC NWC). My research focuses on health data science, geospatial analytics, public health epidemiology, and AI-enabled public health informatics, with a particular interest in understanding and addressing place-based health inequalities.
I manage the Place-based Longitudinal Data Resource (PLDR), supporting access to open and safeguarded datasets for research across NIHR ARC NWC and the NIHR School for Public Health Research. I also lead data acquisition and curation activities and provide information governance expertise across the Institute of Population Health Sciences.
My research includes the development of neighbourhood-level health indicators using large-scale linked and routinely collected data. I have led work on the Small Area Mental Health Index (SAMHI) and the Small Area Vulnerability Index (SAVI), which have supported public health evaluation, local planning and recovery activity.
I contribute advanced quantitative expertise to major population health evaluations, including quasi-experimental methods such as difference-in-differences and synthetic control approaches, and lead analytical work on the Telehealth project.
My earlier research included the development and implementation of the Access to Healthy Assets and Hazards (AHAH) Index, measuring neighbourhood access to health-related environmental features across Great Britain.
