Personal Statement
I am Chair of Neuroimaging at the University of Liverpool. My main research interests are the use of advanced quantitative neuroimaging techniques, mainly magnetic resonance imaging, to understand aberrant brain mechanisms in neurological disorders, help improve imaging diagnostic accuracy and identify reliable imaging prognostic markers of medical and neurosurgical treatment. I seek to advance clinical neuroscience research by developing and supporting NHS/clinical and academic partnerships across the region.

I am mainly an epilepsy researcher and have spent most of my career to date working on imaging biomarkers in newly diagnosed and refractory epilepsy: ILAE award.

I also have interest and expertise in dementia, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, demyelinating disorders, traumatic brain injury, neuropathic pain, neuro-oncology and brain infectious diseases.

I am Director of the Brain Research using Advanced Imaging in Neurology (BRAIN) lab. We specialise in the application of brain MRI methods to study neurological disorders and the impact of treatment on these disorders.

I am academic co-lead of the Liverpool Magnetic Resonance Imaging Centre (LiMRIC) and neuroimaging theme lead for the Liverpool Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Centre (LINC).

I contribute to neuroscience teaching across multiple undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the university.
