Personal Statement
Laura Hope-Stone joined the University of Liverpool in 2008

Laura is a Health Psychology Fellow in Oncology at the University of Liverpool (UoL) and a HCPC registered Hon. Health Psychologist for the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre (LOOC) & Clinical Health Psychology at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust providing a Health Psychology service for adults diagnosed with ocular melanoma (OM) LOOC is the largest centre of the of 4 tertiary referral centres in the UK .

Clinical work: Laura provides psychological support and intervention for patients diagnosed with OM. The emphasis of the role is to help patients adjust and cope with the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis for OM. Laura’s contact with patients is invaluable in ensuring patients’ perspectives are integral to the psychological research programme.

Research interests include: Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) for patients diagnosed and treated for OM; decision making in OM; psychological effects of prognostication in OM; uncertainty in OM; Phantom Eye Syndrome; predictors of distress in OM.
