Personal Statement
I am a Senior Lecturer in the Operations and Supply Chain Management group within the Management School and Associate Dean for Knowledge Exchange and External Engagement. I have experience and research interests in the areas of procurement, service operations, and supply chain management. The importance of inter-personal relationships and collaboration are central to my research interests in business to business collaboration and contemporary supply chain challenges such as social value and modern slavery. I am the lead for the Slavery and Unfree Labour faculty research theme and have an international research collaboration on modern slavery in supply chains. My modern slavery and social value research involves extensive liaison with other universities both in the UK (Lancaster, Cardiff, Nottingham, Hull, Oxford and Surrey) and Australia (RMIT, University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, University of New South Wales). I aslo work closely with a variety of external organisations, including the Crown Commercial Service (CCS), the UK Home Office, the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), Stronger Together, the ETI and the International Slavery Museum (ISM), as well many large businesses, industry bodies and NGOs. I continue to interact closely with the CIPS at a national level, and have included them as partner in two large funded programmes. I am contributor to two new external impact projects and work closely with our research centres: the Centre for Supply Chain Research, and the Centre for Sustainable Business.

Research Overview
The different streams of my research all relate to the management of supply chain relationship and covers (most recent first):
- The management of transparency in supply chains in response to modern slavery and human rights due diligence (HRDD) legislation
- Delivery of social value in response to UK legislation
- Theory and practice of value creation, transformation and distribution in supply chain relationships
- Management of dysfunctional relationships
- Maintain power equilibrium in strategic relationships
My research draws on a variety of qualitative techniquest to generate insights into the real-world issues that often inhibit policy intentions at government, sector and firm levels.
