Personal Statement
Prof. Rob Poole is the Harrison Chair in Mechanical Engineering and was previously Head of Department (2017-2021). He is currently co-editor in Chief of the Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics (Elsevier) and President of the British Society of Rheology. He has research interests in rheology, fluid mechanics, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and turbulence.

Research Overview
Rob has research interests in rheology, fluid mechanics, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and turbulence. He has published widely on both experimental and computational approaches. Recent work has focussed on turbulent drag reduction due to polymeric additives and superhydrophobic surfaces, purely-elastic instabilities and their effect on mixing, non-Newtonian flow in porous media and constitutive equations for non-Newtonian fluids.
