Our research takes place within our departments, our Institutes and centres and in the leading laboratories around the world.
From the subatomic level to the cosmos, from the complexities of financial risk to greener energy, we focus on some of the most pressing questions facing mankind.
Much of our work is interdisciplinary. For example, our mathematicians are working with Management School colleagues to further actuarial maths.
The University of Liverpool is proud to be part of the government’s £1 billion investment in science, helping to establish Europe’s first Materials Innovation Factory in partnership with Unilever. This initiative accelerates the development of new functional materials for science and industry.
At the Leverhulme Research Centre for Functional Material Design, we combine chemistry and computer science to revolutionise material design at the atomic scale.
Our Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy and N-STAR collaborate with the Departments of Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering on renewable energy innovation.
We also work with international institutes like CERN, RIKEN and XJTLU.
