Personal Statement
I am a physiologist with particular research interests in:
o The physiology of parturition and uterine contraction
o Signalling by the neuropeptides, oxytocin and vasopressin, in the uterus
o Development of tocolytic therapies for use in preterm birth
o Twin pregnancy and preterm birth

The current lack of effective treatments for uterine dysfunction such as preterm labour and labour dystocia (prolonged labour) has amplified the search for more promising therapeutic targets and treatment strategies for controlling uterine contractions in labour. I ultimately aim to learn more about the physiology of the uterus and the regulation of its contraction and to be able to translate findings into patient benefit. Read more here

Personal Statement
Professor Beresford is Brough Chair, Professor of Child Health at University of Liverpool. He is Director of the UK’s only ‘Experimental Arthritis Treatment Centre for Children’ supported by Versus Arthritis (https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/eatc-for-children/) translational biomedical research (from early lab-based studies to clinical trials) in childhood arthritis and related musculoskeletal disorders.
He is Executive member of the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PReS), and Chair of the Paediatric Rheumatology Committee of the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR). He led development of European-wide ‘SHARE” recommendations for lupus, lupus nephritis, APS, rare systemic vasculitides, Kawasaki disease and IgA Vasculitis. He developed and leads an internationally renowned Childhood Lupus translational research programme as part of the LUPUS UK's Centre of Excellence for Childhood Lupus. He is CI or Co-I on >£25m grant funding including MRC, NIHR, Versus Arthritis, LUPUS UK, and other funders, with significant publication and supervision record including of post-doctoral research associates and post-graduate students (PhDs and Masters programs).

He was formerly (2018-22) the Director of the ‘NIHR Alder Hey Clinical Research Facility for Experimental Medicine’ (2011-22), Specialty Cluster Lead for NIHR CRN (2015-22) responsible for five National Specialties, namely: Children (comprising all paediatric sub-specialties), Reproductive and Childbirth, Musculoskeletal, non-malignant Haematology and Ophthalmology (adult), and Programme Director for Liverpool Health Partner’s ‘Starting Well’ Theme. He his an investigator on the Wellcome Trust funded birth cohort Children Growing Up in Liverpool and the MRC/Versus Arthritis CLUSTER Consortium.

Personal Statement
Jenny currently has a full-time senior Patient and Public Involvement role at the University of Liverpool based within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Jenny has 18+ years-experience within the Faculty’s Institutes, Research Centres, and related local academic and NHS research infrastructures, as well as with senior national and international partners.

In June 2023 Jenny secured a part-time role of Patient and Public Involvement Policy Manager within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Alongside this she manages the strategic delivery and implementation of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) for numerous academic and NHS research infrastructures including:

Personal Statement
Teesta Dey is a Tenure Track Fellow within the Department of Women's and Children's Health. She has a clinical background in Obstetrics and Gyanaecology and holds a PhD in International Maternal Health.
In June 2026, Teesta was awarded a £1.8M NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) grant to continue research on evaluating and implementing innovations to manage Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH).
She is Co-Director for the Liverpool Womens Health Innovation (WIN) Studio. She collaborates with WHO on the REACH trial and is a member of the Taskforce for Inclusion of Pregnant and Lactating Women in Clinical Trials.

Her research interests include International Maternal Health, Womens Health innovation and Research Inclusivity in Clinical Trials.
