The Department of Public Health, Policy and Systems is one of the largest in the UK and has a world-leading status for its excellence in research and education. Underpinning all our activities is the social model of health and its application to health inequalities and health and social care systems.
Research centres
The Department co-leads the Public Health programme working with ten North West local authorities and community organisations to increase resilience in disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
The Liverpool Centre for Health, Art, Society and Environment (CHASE) provides a home for scholars working at the intersection of the humanities, social sciences, health, medicine and environment.
WHO Collaborating Centre for Policy Research on Determinants of Health Equity, supports the World Health Organisation to investigate the social dimensions of ill-health, in particular social pathways to and from health inequalities and what can be done about them.
